Do I have to pull a permit to perform electrical work at my home?
Deer Park's Code of Ordinances does not allow a homeowner to perform their own electrical work. A registered electrician must pull the permit and perform the work. Even simple work such as installing new outlets will require a permit. This is to ensure that things are performed according to the correct electrical codes and to ensure your families safety. Contact the public works office for more information at 281-478-7253.

What do I need to bring in with me when I pull a building permit?
When pulling any type of building permit (except for interior remodel) you will need to bring in the site survey of your property. Your site survey can be found with the closing papers of your house. In the event you can't find your site survey, in most cases, a drawing (made to scale) that shows your property lines, dimensions, easements, as well as driveways and buildings can be submitted.. Our building official will need the site survey, or drawing, to verify that no easements or building lines are being encroached and that all codes will be met.
